A Guide to Touring the Gold Coast Region

Posted on December 13, 2017December 12, 2017 by John Grochowski

If you and your family have decided on a trip to Australia for next year’s holiday, the Gold Coast is an ideal destination, with so much to see and do. Queensland’s second largest city, Gold Coast offers the tourist a wide range of places of interest, and with some of the best waves in the world, this is a real surfer’s paradise. This coastal city has 70km of golden beaches, and with the city silhouette as a backdrop, you and your family can enjoy lazy afternoons exploring the miles and miles of beaches.

Car Hire

There is no better solution to the problem of getting around than to rent a car, and with some online searching, you should be able to locate car hire in Gold Coast. If you want to save some money, cheap car hire can be found by comparing a few online quotes, and depending on the time of year you go, rates do fluctuate. Cheap car rentals can be sourced in the winter months, or alternatively, you can book months in advance. After you rent a car, you can begin to look at places of interest in the region, of which there are many, and depending on the duration of your stay, you can select the places that have the most appeal.

Yarra Valley

Located about 90km west of Melbourne, this is a wine growing region and you can make a day of it is you start early. Make sure your rental car is filled with fuel and you can enjoy a great day’s sightseeing and sample some of the best wine Australia has to offer.

Gold Coast Attractions

This is the most visited city in Queensland, and is very popular with both domestic and foreign tourists, which is hardly surprising when you consider the pristine beaches that seem to go on forever. Once you have sourced cheap car rentals, you are free to explore the region, where you can experience Dreamworld or Seaworld, two of the most popular theme parks in the region. The Q1 building offers an amazing view of the coastline from the observation deck on the 77th floor, and with their own version of Chinatown, you can sample some tasty Asian cuisine before heading off to see the famous Surfer’s Paradise Meter Maids, who offer a unique solution to parking illegally. Make sure your rental car isn’t parked where it shouldn’t be, otherwise you might be on the wrong side of the officials, who might just issue you with a ticket!

The car hire company would be able to furnish you with maps and also information about the tourist attractions that the Gold Coast is so famous for. It is also a good idea to spend a little time doing some online research, which will give you a clearer idea of the best places to include in your holiday, and if you tale out an unlimited mileage package, you can see most of the attractions the Gold Coast has to offer.
