Sometimes, it’s good to get away. When you find yourself in need for this much-needed relief, consider travelling to South East Asia. The warm weather and tropical climate will ensure that you can leave those cold-weather clothes behind. The question arises, however, where you will go? Well, you’re in luck, because ahead lies a list of the top five vacation spots in South East Asia given in no particular order.
Seminyak Beach, Bali, Indonesia
When looking for a resort in Indonesia, do not neglect the hotels near Seminyak beach on the island of Bali. This beautiful coastal area possesses a host of great resorts and hotels. From standard hotels to spas to resorts, your search will be short lived with the abundance of options in this region. Whatever location you choose, you will be greeted with a hospitality that can only be found among island people, as well as ready access of great and exotic food, and most importantly, immediate proximity to the beach.
Bangkok, Thailand
Just as Seminyak Beach presents vacationers with an abundance of shoreline and spas, Bangkok presents a host of culturally significant tourist locations and hotels. From the canals of the Chao Phraya river to the incredibly scenic Wat PhraKaew temple of Royal Palace, there is no lack of locations to visit in your trip to Thailand. Many other temples populate Bangkok’s architectural repertoire, such as the enormous Wat Pho temple or the Wat Arun Temple. You will also have access to the shore of the Gulf of Thailand complete with a picturesque boardwalk.
Manila, Philippines
Such as Seminyak, Manila is an island destination. Unlike Seminyak, Manila is marked by contrast of cultural landmarks. Because the Philippines were, for a long time, a Spanish colony, the city of Manila has many old Spanish remains of the former colonial capital. The most notable location in Manila is the walled city of Intramuros, which was the original settlement that spawned the capital city of the Philippines. Manila, being both an island-based city and a tourist location, has many hotels located on the beach and around the city. So whether you go for the cultural thrill or for the beach, there is a place for you to stay that gives you ready access to the area you want to see.
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia
Returning to Bali, Kuta is a beachside paradise such as Seminyak, a standard you can expect from Indonesia. This village (not a city by any means) is known mostly for its party-rich life and easy surfing. If you are looking for a place to chill where you are not likely to be interrupted by the outside world, this is likely your best option. That is assuming, of course, that you either enjoy or would be interested in learning to surf, as that is the main draw of the village, with many outfitters offering surfing gear. It may be small, but in terms of being able to chill, you will be hard pressed to find a better environment.
KrongSiem Reap, Cambodia
If you are one who enjoys ancient ruins, then this city is the best possible choice for you. Siem Reap is home to one of the most famous ancient ruins in the world, Angkor Wat. The city of KrongSiem Reap is often called the gateway to Angkor, the capital of the ancient Khmer Kingdom that reigned in South East Asia.
If you find any of these destinations appealing, do not hesitate to book your trip. Don’t miss out on an opportunity of a lifetime. How often will you be able to break away from your work to travel to as storied a region as South East Asia?
